Since the shipment of the first External Supermicrometer™ PC in 2009, the system has become an established solution for gage calibration laboratories requiring high-accuracy dimensional measurements. Capable of performing OD calibrations from 0 to 40 inches [1 meter], the bench micrometer continues to provide users with a versatile and cost-effective approach to in-house gage control across a wide range of industries.
The Supermicrometer PC integrates desktop or laptop computer functionality with Pratt & Whitney’s proprietary GageCal™ automatic tolerance software. The Windows based platform simplifies measurement processes by automatically entering tolerances for plug gages, pin gages, ball bearings, and straight or tapered threads. Furthermore, software capabilities include automatic calculation of pitch and major diameters for standard thread forms as well as identification of out-of-tolerance conditions.
By offering a complete turnkey solution, the Supermicrometer PC has helped bring calibration processes in-house, which were once traditionally outsourced. This approach reduces calibration turnaround times while providing users with greater control over standards and procedures.
